**Job Description**
Data Friendly Space (DFS) is seeking a **Community Engagement & Content Intern** to support the Analysis Team in communicating our work, engaging our Volunteer Analyst community, and contributing to the development of DFS analysis products. This is a paid ($500/month), fully remote internship running for 3 months.
In this role, you’ll create content that brings the Analysis Team’s work to life across social media, community engagement, and team communications. You’ll help manage and grow a community of volunteer analysts, produce regular engagement materials, and support the team with data visualizations, graphics, and other multimedia assets. You’ll learn about SituationHub, our flagship digital public good, and contribute directly to analysis products that support decision-making in humanitarian contexts.
## **Roles and Responsibilities:**
### **Content Creation & Social Media**
- Write accessible, engaging posts that translate the Analysis Team’s work, including methodologies, project updates, and impact stories, to our main audience.
- Draft blog articles and short-form written pieces that showcase DFS analysis outputs, team expertise, and sector insights.
- Design graphics and visual assets using Canva, in line with DFS brand guidelines, to accompany social media content, newsletters, and team communications.
- Support the development and formatting of presentations, reports, and analysis products for internal and external audiences
- Collaborate with the Analysis Team to ensure all visual and written content accurately reflects DFS’s work and maintains a consistent brand voice.
### **Volunteer Analyst Community Engagement**
- Support the analysis team in coordinating and managing the volunteer programme, including communication with volunteers, tracking tasks and reviews, and assisting with ad hoc operational and administrative tasks related to volunteer engagement and workflow management.
- Produce regular updates for the Volunteer Analyst community, sharing spotlights, opportunities, and team news.
- Maintain and update community communication channels (e.g. Slack or email).
- Gather and relay volunteer feedback to the Analysis Team to help shape community programming.
### **Contribute to Analysis Products**
- Learn about DFS’s flagship platform, SituationHub, and develop a working understanding of how it supports humanitarian decision-making.
- Support the Analysis Team in the production and dissemination of analysis products, including situation reports, briefs, and data summaries.
- Help communicate analysis outputs to wider audiences by translating technical findings into accessible written content.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of analysis products by providing data visualizations, new ways to pitch content, and multimedia assets.
## **Required Qualifications**
- Strong written communication skills in English, with the ability to adapt tone and format across different content types and audiences.
- Comfortable using digital collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, or similar platforms).
- Experience using Canva or similar design tools to create graphics and visual content.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fully remote environment.
## **Nice-to-Have Skills**
- Familiarity with content creation
- Experience producing newsletters or community communications.
- Background or coursework in communications, journalism, humanitarian, analysis, international development, or a related field.
- Experience engaging with volunteer or community networks.
- Genuine interest in data, analysis, or the use of evidence in humanitarian and social impact work.
